Barbering, Clinical Practice
The student will practice all salon techniques learned in the first semester in a clinical situation. The student will be able to perform a shave and a clipper cut on male clients. Theory instruction: Anatomy and Physiology of Human Body as it pertains to cosmetology profession.
Hair Pressing, Curling, Wigs & Hairpieces
The student will demonstrate proper pressing and curling techniques using various types of curling irons and pressing combs. The student will demonstrate wig cleaning and styling on full head wigs and different types of hairpieces. Theory instruction: use of electricty, heat and light in a salon.
Advanced Hair Design
The student will demonstrate hairstyling techniques on long hair and basic braiding techniques. The student will continue to practice styling techniques used in a beauty salon. Theory instruction: The salon business--operating a successful salon, going into business for yourself and retailing in a salon.
Preparation for New Jersey Board Exam
The student will practice all basic and salon skills in preparation of the NJ State Board Hairstyling and Cosmetology licensing exam. Theory instruction: students will prepare for licensing written exam by reviewing all section of theory instruction.
