Automotive Technology
Students in the Automotive Technology Program receive preparation for entry in the automotive service field at the semi-professional level.
The curriculum includes fuel, electrical, brake and suspension systems, wheel alignment, engine analysis and oxyacetylene/electric welding. The program provides students with the opportunity to develop both diagnostic and mechanical expertise in the automotive field.
Graduates of the program are prepared to assume various technical level positions in manufacturing or developmental laboratories, diagnostic centers, or sales and specialized repair shops. Preparation for self-employment is also part of the course of study. Graduates may continue study toward a Bachelor's Degree in Technology.
This is one of the joint technology programs offered by Raritan Valley Community College and Somerset County Technology Institute. Students attend classes at both educational facilities and earn an Associate of Applied Science degree upon successful completion of the program.
Automotive Technology is also offered as a Certificate Program, wherein students are required to take only the technology core courses indicated by an asterisk
