Computer Technology

This one year diploma program in Computer Technology prepares the student for employment in the computer industry as a skilled technician. Large corporations, small businesses and most school districts are alway in need of qualified computer technology.

Today's computer technician knows how to repair a computer. The competent technical person designs, installs and administers local and wide area networks, has a working knowledge of telecommunications and fiber optics and knows the software and hardware market.

The Somerset County Technology Institute is an Authorized Cisco Networking Academy. Students who complete this two semester course will be prepared to take the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Network+ certification exams, two highly regarded certifications for today's Internet world.

SCTI also offers Microsoft certification courses as well as Network Security certification courses. In addition to offering these specialized courses to our regular Technology Institute students, SCTI offers the lastest computer technology curriculum to those who wish to enhance their skills and earning ability.

There are four core courses in the Computer Technology Program. They are usually taken together in the first semester, along with electives. In the second semester, a student can specialize in a particular skills area or take a variety of courses for a broad technical education.
