Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Heating (HVAC)

The Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Heating Technology Program prepares students for employment as technicians, designers, sales persons or contractors.  Graduates of this program have attained positions as plant operating engineers, energy managers and air conditioning supervisors.  Students receive instruction in manipulative skills, design, estimating, theory, instrumentation, electricity and control supply.

The curriculum also includes academic courses that relate to the electrical, instrumentation and thermodynamic theories and laboratory practices.

Graduate technicians enter workforce at semi-professional career level.  They seek employment with contracting, research, manufacturing and maintenance firms, or become self-employed.  Some graduates may continue study toward a Bachelor's Degree in Technology.

The Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Heating Technology Program is one of the joint technology programs offered by Raritan Valley Community college and Somerset County Technology Institute.  Students attend classes at both educational facilities and earn an Associate of Applied Science degree upon successful completion of the program.

SCTI/RVCC joint courses will be recorded at both institutions.

Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Heating Technology is also offered as a Certificate Program, wherein students are required to take only the technology core courses indicated by an asterisk (*).
