Somerset County Technology Institute(SCTI) is offering a course in print production for graphic designers. Students in the program are designing brochures on a Macintosh computer, sending their files to a computer to plate system and producing their work on an Offset Press. The class is taught by Charles Koch, printing instructor.
The class is comprised of adult students from SCTI and DuCret School of Art in Plainfield. They are receiving hands-on instruction from Mr. Koch who checks the print files submitted by the students to evaluate any problems that may arise from poor file preparation.
The students are also preparing designs for T-shirt production on a six color automatic T-shirt printer. The Digital Prepress Printing/Production course for Graphic Designers offers students orientation to the printing process for Offset and Screen Printing processes. The curriculum also includes computer to plate conflicts, ink, paper, and press selection, press set-up, press operation and troubleshooting, finishing and binding operations.
